During your stay in Chamonix that you have planned for the UTMB, you will certainly be looking for activities and ideas for visits. Here are some suggestions to enhance your stay between the preparation of the event and the race itself.

The sea of ice

This is one of the must-sees, even if the sea of ice has melted over the years. The setting is still magical and the excursion can be done with the family with a small train that takes you to the site.

The Aiguille du Midi

Culminating at 3,842 metres, it is the highest of the Chamonix needles. On the main summit, a tower with telecommunication antennas stands on top of it, representing the current highest point. You can reach it by a vertiginous cable car and the view is absolutely fantastic on a clear day.

Lake Blanc

This is one of the most beautiful high altitude lakes in the Alps and is located in the Aiguilles Rouges massif, in the commune of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc at an altitude of 2,352m. It is accessible with a short and easy hike and allows you to spend a beautiful day in the heart of nature, to oxygenate yourself and enjoy the landscapes.

Le Brévent

From Chamonix the cable car takes you to Planpraz at 2000m, then the cable car to Le Brévent at 2525m. At Plan Praz there are many great places to go, including the Lac Cornu and the Grand Balcon Sud. From the top of the Brévent, a path leads you to the Aiguillette des Houches via the Bel-Lachat refuge: a beautiful and very accessible hike to discover superb views.

In town

Chamonix is a very pleasant little town, which offers many cultural activities, but also shopping, culinary discoveries and a real nightlife animated by numerous bars and festive establishments. In addition, the town has many museums and spas for relaxation and is a great place to spend a few days after the UTMB.
