Getting to Chamonix for the UTMB
You are planning your stay in Chamonix for the UTMB® and you need to choose your mode of transport to get to the alpine resort? Here are all the possibilities you have to get to the beautiful town of Chamonix!
By plane
The nearest airport is Geneva at 88 km and a bus company (SAT) provides daily connections between Geneva airport and Chamonix.
By train
Chamonix has an SNCF train station with TER and TGV connections from St Gervais-les-bains-le Fayet station 20km away. In addition, a Mont Blanc Express line serves all the villages from St Gervais-les-bains-le Fayet to Martigny (Switzerland) via Servoz, Les Houches, Chamonix, Argentière and Vallorcine.
By Road
Road access to Chamonix is quite simple and convenient. From France, direct access via the Autoroute Blanche (A40) takes you to the heart of the resort and this motorway is well connected to the French and European motorway network. From Switzerland, a motorway takes you to Martigny, then the road crosses the Forclaz pass and the Montets pass to reach the Chamonix valley. From Italy, the passage is after Courmayeur through the Mont Blanc tunnel.
