Accommodation in Chamonix

If you need to find accommodation for the UTMB, you should be aware that accommodation in Chamonix can be tricky in the middle of summer and during this event which attracts a lot of people to the town. Here are some tips to help you find a place to stay during the UTMB.

Don't hesitate to move away

You will find a lot of cheaper accommodation than in Chamonix, if you don't hesitate to move away. You can go down to Sallanches, Combloux or Passy which can offer good opportunities and are still quite close. Beyond Chamonix, there are numerous villages dotted around the valley as far as Martigny in Switzerland, which also offer well placed accommodation.

Getting there in advance

Often some accommodation is booked up year after year by regulars and you should not hesitate to do the same. The key is of course not to wait and not to act too late or you will be forced to move away. 

Sharing a large flat with several people

Smaller apartments such as studios and one-bedrooms are the fastest to go. If you are coming to do the test with friends, you should not hesitate to choose large apartments and to stay together to reduce costs. Moreover, large flats are more often available and less sought after.
