The outsole is one of the elements that determine our choice when buying a hiking boot. A brand that specialises in the manufacture of high-quality outsoles has made its mark on the market... Focus on the Vibram® outsole.

Vibram® is an Italian company specialising in the manufacture of rubber outsoles. Vibram® soles are a true reference in the outdoor world and were originally designed primarily for hiking boots and climbing shoes. Now they are available in a range of possibilities, from dress shoes to sneakers to winter boots. Let's find out why the Vibram® sole is so popular with hikers around the world.

If you had to name the most important feature of an outsole for a hiking boot, it would probably be the grip. In the mountains, and in general when hiking, it is essential that the sole of your shoe guarantees sufficient grip on the ground, for your safety. Vibram® soles are made of a rubber compound that is particularly grippy on all types of terrain. Whether you're on a slope with wet grass or climbing a rocky path, they provide excellent grip and comfort.

There are different types of Vibram® soles to choose from, depending on your level and type of use. Some have a particularly large grip surface, with a very effective cleat system to ensure that the grip remains secure on stone or wet surfaces. Others have an EVA midsole for greater comfort, lightness, but above all for better shock absorption, and therefore more effective cushioning. There are also insoles with a specific shape that allows for better evacuation of impurities, others that are particularly flexible and light, which favour optimal development of the foot, limiting fatigue and effort, and still others that are equipped with a stone guard, for reinforced foot protection. All are notably durable and comfortable. Some of them have several or almost all of the above features, such as the Vibram® Foura sole, which has a particularly grippy self-cleaning pattern, a stone guard, a reinforced heel and a cushioning polyurethane compound sole.
