Survival and safety equipment for the UTMB®
Amongst the essential accessories to be slipped into your race bag for the UTMB®, there is the safety and survival equipment that is absolutely necessary for this type of event.
Mandatory survival and safety equipment
In terms of safety, the UTMB® race regulations stipulate that you must absolutely take :
- A mobile phone with an option allowing its use in the three countries (France, Switzerland, Italy). You must also put the organisation's security numbers in the phone book. It is imperative to keep your phone on, not to hide your number and not to forget to leave with a fully charged battery. You may also want to bring a spare battery or powerbank.
- A whistle: which will allow you to give the alarm in case of a problem and to find your way in case of a search.
- Adhesive elastic bandage: this should be able to make a bandage or a strapping of at least 100 cm long and 6 cm wide
- A survival blanket of at least 1.40m x 2m to keep warm in case of injury or breakdown.
- 2 lamps in good working order with batteries or a spare battery for each lamp. It is recommended that the main lamp has a minimum light output of 200 lumens to provide sufficient brightness and visibility.
- Finally, the ID can be stored in the mandatory security items
