First of all, wash as little as possible,

When to wash

       Noticeable dirt, sweat, or odors

       Wet-out (rain no longer beads on the surface)

       After heavy use in mud, salt, or sunscreen

What you’ll need

       Liquid detergent, mild (no powder)

       Ideally: a technical wash (e.g., Nikwax Tech Wash)

       Optional: DWR reproofing product if water beading is poor

How to wash

1. Prep the jacket: empty pockets, close zips/velcro, loosen drawcords.
2. Machine settings: cold to 30 °C (per care label), gentle cycle, low spin.
3. Detergent: use a small amount of liquid detergent or Tech Wash.
4. Rinse well: add an extra rinse to remove all residues (residue harms breathability).
5. Dry: air-dry flat or hang. If the label allows, tumble-dry low for 10–20 min to help reactivate the DWR.

Don’ts

       No fabric softeners, bleach, stain removers, or powder detergents

       No dry cleaning (unless the label explicitly allows it)

       Don’t over-spin or overheat

Quick upkeep between washes

       Spot-clean mud/salt with a damp cloth

       Brush off dirt before it embeds

       Air out after sweaty activity to delay full washes

This approach keeps the membrane breathing, maintains waterproof performance, and extends the life of your jacket.
