How to register for the UTMB®?

If you want to start the registration process for the UTMB®, you need to understand the registration process and what phases it involves. Here are the essentials of what you need to know.

Selection on race experience

First of all, you need to know that you must have trail experience. For this, the UTMB® has set up thresholds of ITRA points to be acquired in previous years to demonstrate your ability to do this type of event. 

A second phase based on a draw

In view of the very large number of applicants for this flagship event, which attracts trailers from all over the world, the organiser has set up a draw process to decide between the applicants. With more than 26,000 applications for only 10,000 places available (all races combined), this is an inevitable phase. If a candidate is unlucky in the draw, he or she is given a double chance on the same race the following year, and then priority registration in the event of two failed draws. Nevertheless, this system will evolve in 2021, providing for another access via participation in the UTMB® International and UTWT races.
