Ilona is originally from the Pyrenees. She left this beautiful massif at the age of 14 to go to school in Moûtiers (Savoie) where she followed a bi-qualifying mountain curriculum.

Her young age does not prevent her from discovering her passions, which are climbing and mountaineering in all conditions: from ice climbing to dry tooling, through ski touring and ridge running...

At 17 years old, his goal is to become a high mountain guide and a first aider. Cimalp has the pleasure of accompanying her in all her adventures, a trust granted for which the young woman is grateful.

Interview with Ilona
3 words that define you as an athlete?
Passionate. Determined. Persistent.
3 values that match you as a person?
Humility, selflessness and fighting spirit.
Why do you feel you belong to the Cimalp family?
I recognize myself in the values conveyed by Cimalp and am very happy to represent a French mountain brand.
Your best and worst mountain memories and why?
My best memory, hard to choose. Many days were incredible and will mark me for a long time... The Grand Capucin and its granite worthy of a mountain poster: after a day of battle against the wind and rain, the arrival at the top proved to be a huge relief. Some time later, this feeling turned into great pride. I shared this day with people I care about, which reinforces this incredible memory.
My worst memory, without hesitation, the avalanche in which two fellow climbers got caught while we were ice climbing. Fortunately, we got them out of the snow quickly enough to be safe. Nonetheless, this event was a turning point in my life as a mountaineer and highlighted the vulnerability we face when operating in this environment.
What do mountains inspire you?
Tranquility, freedom, surpassing yourself, rope spirit, humility, immensity, vulnerability...
What is your relationship to the environment and ecology?
I am interested in the environment and I participated in a Swiss expedition where the main theme was global warming and its consequences on the mountain environment (melting glaciers, permafrost...).
Another great passion/talent than sports?
When I'm not in the mountains, my two main pursuits are reading and music: I play the guitar and the piano.
