TRAIL RUNNING
facebook instagram strava

From a sports background (judo then football), Sylvain is a PE teacher. He discovered outdoor sports (mountain biking, hiking, climbing) in 2010, especially Trail Running.

Quickly, he became passionate about this sport. The feeling of freedom in the mountains and the Trail spirit that he particularly likes.

What motivates Sylvain even more is running for the Vaincre Parkinson Association and supporting raising awareness about the disease.

Interview with Sylvain
3 words that define you as an athlete?
Courageous. Enduring. Combative.
3 values that fit you as a person?
Humility, selflessness, listening.
Why do you feel you belong to the Cimalp family?
I fully recognize myself in the brand's eco-friendly commitments and values. Team Cimalp is made up of humble, friendly athletes with whom we have a great time and share great adventures.
Your best and worst mountain memories and why?
Surprisingly it was during the same event that I experienced my worst and best memory. At the 30th km of the UTCAM, I sprained my ankle. The exams showed a rupture of one of the ligaments. In a fraction of a second, I see the goal for which I had prepared myself with all the sacrifices, the hours of training that it implies, but also the commitment of my relatives who came to assist and support me during the night... everything seems to collapse around me. At this point, I tell myself that I can't give up: I find my friends and family at the next feeding station in tears and I decide to continue the adventure. With this ankle, I manage to do 90 km in the first position before being caught and overtaken on the last descent. But the joy was so precious that could override the pain that I felt: to cross this finish line with the relatives and the banner of the charity I support, to reach my goal. What joy, what happiness.
What do mountains inspire you?
A way to escape, to move freely in sumptuous natural spaces. This environment gives me a lot of emotions. Nature is a place of meeting, pleasure, and an exceptional but fragile environment, which is shared. I therefore have at heart to preserve this environment, this balance, our place of practice which is also and above all a place full of life with animals, wildlife and travellers.
What is your relationship to the environment and ecology?
I am very sensitive to this subject. I try in my daily gestures to limit my ecological impact, to reduce my carbon footprint by favouring short circuits in particular, and by leading actions of waste collection with the high school students that raise awareness.
Another great passion/talent besides sports?
I am involved and invested in the association Vaincre Parkinson.
