Whether you are hiking, Nordic walking or trail walking, it is essential that your poles are set to the right length. Here are our tips to help you choose your pole size.

The best way to choose the size of your walking or hiking poles is to try them out in a shop. To choose the right size of pole, you need to stand upright on a flat surface, ideally wearing your hiking boots. In this position, grab the pole and hold it upright, perpendicular to the ground. Adjust the height of the pole so that your forearm is parallel to the ground and forms a 90° angle with your elbow.

If you cannot physically test your sticks, for example if you buy them online, you can multiply your height in centimetres by 0.68. The result will give you the ideal length for your stick. The result will give you the ideal length for your poles. If you fall between two sizes, we advise you to choose the smaller size. For example, if you are 178 cm tall, then your poles should be 120 cm long: 178 x 0.68 = 121.04
